Ronald Mueck (born 1958,Melbourne)is an Australianhyperrealist sculptor working in the United Kingdom. He began his career as creative director for TV programs and made, voiced and operated the puppets. In 1996 Mueck transitioned to fine art, collaborating with his Paula Rego, to produce small figures as part of a tableau she was showing at the Hayward Gallery. Rego introduced him to Charles Saatchi who was immediately impressed and started to collect and commission work. This led to the piece that made Mueck's name, Dead Dad. Dead Dad is a silicone and mixed media sculpture of the corpse of Mueck's father reduced to about two thirds of its natural scale. It is the only work of Mueck's that uses his own hair for the finished product.Mueck'ssculptures faithfully reproduce the minute detail of the human body, but play with scale to produce disconcertingly jarring visual images.

A small studio in London. A feeling of big disorder gets involved in the inner conviction to be in an exceptional place. Ron Mueck, secret artist, rarely accepts the visitors and a meeting with him does not leave unmoved. His discretion does not hide for a long time his deep sensibility. For two years, Gautier Deblonde filmed regularly the artist during the realization of three works. To see Ron Mueck at the work intrigues, impresses, surprises. His sculptures, few, represent people -men, women and children, whose expressions are familiar to us. It are the ones of the everyday life : a realism disturbing in the service of an art profoundly moving. There is no question to learn techniques and know-how of the artist, but rather to look why for his creations meet a popular success in the most prestigious museums of the world. The movie invites us to understand what they tell us and to share our felt sensations while facing an original representation of the human race.
